Officials release name of man in ultralight crash in Winnebago County

TOWN OF VINLAND, Wis. - Officials confirm 68-year-old Charles M. Braxtrom of Appleton was the man who died in a Winnebago County ultralight crash Tuesday.

Braxtrom was the only one inside, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office said.

Neighbors told NBC26 they have not been able to get the image of the crash out of their minds.

The woman who first called 911 said it's a reminder of how quickly life can change.

"Sometimes, we take life for granted," said Karen Brazee. "The poor guy was probably thinking it was a beautiful day to go for a ride and unfortunately, he died."

Because an ultralight is not a plane, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office is investigating. The FAA and NTSB are not involved.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
