Young adults who are struggling with mental health challenges have a new place to find help. A transitional housing facility is opening in Neenah for 18 to 25-year-olds.

The Housing Partnership of the Fox Cities and NAMI Fox Valley say the Ascend Initiative focuses on education, employment, teaching basic living skills, and managing emotional and mental health.

"Rather than letting somebody fall through the cracks and maybe end up in a situation of homelesses or other despair, this gives us a chance to be our last best chance to get someone on good footing once they become an independent adult, but don't have the supports around them that they've had the last 18 years of their life," said Joe Mauthe, Executive Director of the Housing Partnership of the Fox Cities.

The new transitional living program is unique to Wisconsin and was made possible through a generous donation from Lynne Cumings Keller.
