Suspect faces felony charge in Markesan stabbing

UPDATE SEPT. 8 2016:

Police have identified the suspect as 21-year-old Evan Delonay, who faces a felony charge of second degree reckless injury.  

Delonay's initial appearance has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Green Lake County courthouse.

A frantic early morning police call from neighbors in the quiet town of Markesan.,

"He was laying on a rock with a large amount of blood coming from him," said Markesan police chief, William Pflum.

That person is a 20-year-old man who was stabbed multiple times allegedly by a 21-year-old man.

"It was an argument it sounds like over a girlfriend, possibly a break-up," said Chief Pflum.

That 20-year-old man was able to make it out of the home on the corner of West Charles street and North Bridge street and stumble a few blocks before he collapsed.  Neighbors then saw that man and called police for help.
 
"This morning there was a trail of blood that led all the way down the corner," said Chief Pflum.
 
The 20-year-old was taken to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah where he underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon, but police expect him to be okay.
 
The 21-year-old suspect was taken treated for a hand injury then taken to jail.
 
Officers also questioned the girlfriend who was involved, but she has since been released.
 
Officers say they expect to press charges as early as Wednesday morning in this case.
