Congratulations, Green Bay!

The city has been ranked the drunkest city in America according to a recent analysis of the country's drinking habits by thefinancial website 24/7 Wall St.

Here's how Wisconsin's cities fared on the list:

  • 1st - Green Bay
  • 2nd - Eau Claire
  • 3rd - Appleton
  • 4th - Madison
  • 6th - Oshkosh/Neenah
  • 9th - Wausau
  • 10th - La Crosse
  • 12th - Fond du Lac
  • 15th - Sheboygan
  • 20th - Milwaukee/Waukesha/West Allis metro area

To create their rankings, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed the percentage of adults 18 and older who report binge or heavy drinking "within a 30-day period across 381 metro areas." That data was provided by County Health Rankings & Roadmaps.

Other data on things like bars per capita were provided by County Business Patterns, which is maintained by the US Census Bureau.

Wisconsin's relationship with alcohol is the subject of much discussion, especially in the state legislature. The Dairy State led the nation in interlock driving stops last year, just part of the reason lawmakers introduced new bills earlier in 2017 that will try to fight drunk driving.
