Drowning investigated after man pulled from water in Door County

DOOR COUNTY (NBC 26) — An apparent drowning is under investigation in Door County.

The Door County Sheriff's Office said it received notice just before 8 p.m. Saturday that someone was in distress in the waters of Clark Lake near 5257 Grady Rd. in the town of Sevastopol.

Multiple departments responded to the scene, including units from the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department, Jacksonport Fire Department, Door County Emergency Services Department, the Door County Sheriff’s Office, and the Door County Dive Team.

About a half-hour later, the Sheriff's Office said a 24-year-old Madison man was pulled from the water. He was taken by ambulance to the Door County Medical Center. The Sheriff's Office said he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man's identity hasn't been released. Authorities are working to notify the next of kin.
