The holiday shopping season has begun. Thousands across northeast Wisconsin are taking advantage of some of the deals that you won't find, even on black Friday. NBC26 captures the anticipation as folks flock to find the savings.

It seems like every year we set a new record as far as sales go during this week and this year it's no different. Over 135 million people are expected to shop over the holiday weekend either online or in person and it all starts today.

The lines haven't formed everywhere just yet at retailer’s front doors in Ashwaubenon. But just take a look across town and you'll notice their beginnings.

"I was here about a quarter after eight this morning," says Jean Kosweski from Menominee Michigan shopping at Kohls today.

"You don't know how many x-boxes they're gonna have here so," adds Nate Lemere of Green Bay who is standing at the front of the line at Kohls too.

Hours before the doors even open shoppers are getting their spots established. But everyone has their breaking points.

"I switched out with my dad because he was hungry and needed to go to the bathroom," says Erik Moreno of Green Bay who is holding his father’s spot securely at Best Buy.

Turns out showing up early doesn't always cut it though. Sometimes you have to be one of the first to get the deals.

"Last year I was 10th in line to get a certain item and I didn't get it and I was really upset. So this year I just decided come early and stand in line," adds Kosewski who is the first in line at Kohls.

As the crowds are let in at Kohls for their noon opening, there wasn't panic or chaos. In orderly fashion just over a hundred people made their way to the carts and proceeded to find their deals.

"I'm getting a X-Box One and I'm saving 125 dollars," says Lemere.

"They have a deal going on for this 49 inch tv for 150 bucks," adds Moreno who awaits Best Buys opening.

So buddy up to your new neighbor and try to stay dry.

"If you can handle the crowds then it's definitely something you can enjoy," says fellow line waiter Lucas Simon of Green Bay.

Because like all of our seasons in northeast Wisconsin, the holiday shopping season too, will be over soon.

A lot of retailers choose not to be open on Thanksgiving, so don't feel bad if you skipped the lines today. You’ll still have time to find door buster deals all weekend as we get into the rush of the holiday shopping season.
