Green Bay Police are investigating a burglary at Nelson Tactical located in the 1300 block of Velp Avenue. Officers say witnesses saw suspects leaving the store with an unknown number of guns.

Police were called to the business just after 3:30 AM Monday. When they arrived, officers found a shattered window on the west side of the building. While securing the crime scene, officers found a firearm from the store lying in the street.

"Right now it looks like we had about four long guns, including two assault weapons that were stolen, said Chief Andrew Smith, Green Bay Police Department. "In addition there was also a shotgun that was taken. But again, they're doing an inventory to try to determine exactly how many were taken."

Witnesses say the suspects drove away and headed south on Thrush Street before turning west onto Mather Street at a high rate of speed.

"People that steal firearms aren't generally firearms enthusiasts or collectors or sportsman, they're individuals that want to steal these guns either to sell them on the black market or use them for whatever purpose they have," said Smith.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Green Bay Police Department at 920-448-3208 or Crime Stoppers at 920-432- STOP.
