First through fifth graders in Ashwaubenon were able to enjoy breakfast with the Public Safety Chief Friday after winning a fire safety poster contest.

Valley View and Pioneer Elementary schools participated in the contest. The winner were invited to have breakfast with Chief Eric Dunning at the Public Safety station.

Kids were able to explore the fire garage and clean the trucks.

It's a great time every year, Chief Dunning said.

"It is a highlight, and we're very fortunate to have a community that cares, and parents drop them off with smiles, you know they're going to be safe," said Chief Dunning. "45 or 60 minutes of glory, we'll take it!"

The students also got a lesson on how to escape a home safely during a fire.
