After the City of Green Bay’s 9/11 Memorial was decommissioned, during a special ceremony on September 11th of this year, City Council is now reconsidering that decision.

At first, Mayor Jim Schmitt said the city alderman’s request to reconsider was “out of order, but the city council voted in favor of overruling the mayor’s decision.

Some of the city aldermen say there are still legality issues to resolve before any action can be taken.

The issue will now be sent back to the Green Bay City Parks Committee for further discussion.

Also at tonight’s meeting, city council decided to approve a construction project to build a new train ride at Bay Beach Amusement Park.

This would mark the second miniature train ride at the amusement park and it would travel on the west end, beneath the Zippin Pippin roller coaster.

Construction of the train is estimated to cost about $1.2 million and would be paid for by sale of tickets, concessions and souvenirs at Bay Beach.

Crews are expected to start working on it soon and it could open by May.
