Investigators are still working to positively identify the man who died in the shooting at Jack's Apple Pub early Sunday, Chief Todd Thomas said in a statement Monday.

The other people injured will not be identified until the conclusion of the investigation, Chief Thomas said.

Lt. Steinke, the officer involved in the shooting, is on administrative assignment during the investigation. The officer who was with Lt. Steinke at the time of the shooting is also on administrative assignment until after his interview, said Chief Thomas.

There have also been conflicting statements made by people involved, making the investigation more difficult, according to Chief Thomas.

"We are asking for the media and the public’s assistance while this investigation proceeds to help us all obtain the most accurate account of what happened," said Chief Thomas. "It is extremely important that we don’t make assumptions about what occurred based on preliminary and conflicting statements. It is very important that critical interviews that need to be done yet are not tainted, or could even be perceived as being tainted."

The Green Bay Police Department is leading the investigation.
