SEVERE RISK CATEGORIES: Each day the Storm Prediction Center issues a severe risk outlook, which highlights the areas across the country that have a threat for severe storms. The outlook includes five different categories. Meteorologist Brittney Merlot explains each category and how many storms are expected to occur, how long they will last, how intense they will be and if we can expect damaging winds, hail or tornadoes.
