APPLETON (NBC 26) -- Three police officers received minor injuries during an arrest Thursday night, Appleton Police said.

Police were conducting surveillance at a residence on West Wisconsin Avenue, looking for Deandre D. Rembert, who police said had two active misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.

Rembert was seen leaving the residence as a passenger in a vehicle, which eventually pulled into and parked at the Citgo Gas Station at the corner of Oneida Street and Wisconsin Avenue.

According to Appleton Police, as an officer approached the vehicle, the suspect got out, attacked the officer, and tried to get into the driver’s seat to drive away. The officer was able to pull him out of the driver’s seat, but police said Rembert resisted and ran away, running through people’s yards.

Police said officers caught Rembert in a backyard. Police also say Rembert struggled with officers, tried to disarm one of the officers, and yelled at officers to shoot him. Officers tried to use a Taser but police said it was ineffective.

Police then used a K9 dog to take Rembert into custody. Rembert was taken to the hospital and treated for a bite from the K9. Police said as he was released from the hospital and being escorted to jail in handcuffs, he again resisted officers and tried to get away.

Police are requesting multiple charges against Rembert, including resisting an officer, attempting to disarm an officer, and battery to an officer.

Appleton Police said three officers received minor injuries during the fight, but immediately returned to duty.
