The majority of the WIAA softball tournaments began with regional round play in all five divisions on Wednesday.
NBC26 covered the Division I, Section 2 matchup between No. 11 Appleton West and No. 6 Ashwaubenon. After Five scoreless innings, Ashwaubenon broke the game open in the sixth inning. Morgan Zirbel hit an RBI double to the right field fence scoring a pair of Jaguars base runners. Katie Schultz followed that up with a ground ball base hit between first and second, scoring two more runs. Katelynn Cleveland threw a one-hitter.
Ashwaubenon won the game, 6-0 and will face No. 3 Pulaski in the next round on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
