We begin today's take with a question. Do you believe in science? I know that's not where we generally begin in a sports conversation but this week science, or perhaps more correctly scientists, have demanded a little attention in the sports arena. The topic is Tom Brady and the deflate gate scandal. Yes that gift that just keeps on giving no mater how much we wish it wouldn't. This week a brief was filed by 21 professors from 10 different universities, including M.I.T., Stanford, and Pen, that absolutely excoriates NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for ignoring the ideal gas law portion of the leagues own report which accounts for the lost air pressure in the football's the Patriots used against the Colts two years ago. They go on to say the part of the NFL report that claims tampering was not based on quote "science" but a quote "scientifically worded surmise." To back up their claim the studied field temperature data from not a season or two of games, but 10,000 games dating back to 1960. The findings show that 61 percent of all games would have been played with under inflated footballs! But please Roger Goddell by all means... Keep trashing the legacy of one of your biggest stars in court while suspending him 4 games.... because you know... Science doesn't matter.
