GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (NBC 26) — Amid sweeping changes across the minor league baseball landscape, things will stay more or less the same in the Fox Valley.
The Timber Rattlers Friday annoucned a 10-year agreement to remain with the Milwaukee Brewers, with whom they have been affiliated since 2008.
It's the longest agreement ever made between the two clubs. Under the previous agreement between MLB and MiLB, those contracts were usually somewhere between two and four seasons.
The decade-long deal gives the T-Rats an extra degree of commitment.
"The Brewers made it known to MLB that they wanted to be in Appleton and that was great for us to hear," Rob Zerjav, the Timber Rattlers president, said Friday during a zoom call.
"It's a perfect fit for us," he added. "The location, the proximity. It means a lot to our organization and to the people in this community."
Zerjav said the Timber Rattlers hope to allow full capacity at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium this season. He said when the season begins in early May, they will likely allow 25 percent capacity and then build up from there as COVID-19 case numbers decrease and vaccination numbers increase.
