SUAMICO, Wis. (NBC 26) — Jayden Montgomery made it official Wednesday.

The Bay Port football star signed to play college football at the University of Iowa. He's following in the footsteps of his father, Jerry Montgomery, the Packers defensive line coach who played for the Hawkeyes from 1998-2002.

"It's a dream come true," Jayden Montgomery said. "I've been going to Hawkeyes games since I was a little kid so it's definitely awesome and a blessing to be able to head back and kind of follow in his footsteps a little bit.

"A bunch of my family lives in Iowa," he added. "It's been kind of a dream since I was a little kid to be a Hawkeye and I'm blessed to be able to say that I'll be a Hawk."

Bay Port tight end Nate Forystek also signed his letter of intent Wednesday. He is headed to FCS powerhouse North Dakota State.
