GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play on Sunday against the New York Jets despite the team’s elimination from the playoffs, according to a number of reports.
Rodgers was listed as questionable after last week’s loss to the Chicago Bears. The loss removed the Packers from playoff contention.
After the loss last weekend, he told reporters he wanted to end the season “the right way.”
On Wednesday, WTMJ Radio reporter Doug Russell reported Rodgers said Wednesday he will play Sunday.
From the @packers locker room today: Aaron Rodgers says definitively that he WILL play Sunday, and Kenny Clark says that the team has not told him he’ll go on IR. Still, Clark is getting an MRI about every three days. #NFL

As to why he's playing, Rodgers reportedly told The Athletic that, “It’s a lot a about leadership.”
“If I want to be listened to and followed and looked up to, how could I stand here and say that these games that don’t matter for playoffs, I’m going to cash it in. That’s just not the way I lead…” Rodgers told the Athletic.
