We are about to head down the stretch in this NFL regular season, and in this crazy campaign of ups and downs there is an upper crust: Carolina, New England, Arizona, Denver.
Then there is the rest.
Best of the rest in the NFC; Minnesota and Seattle, then a bunch of losing teams surging into playoff contention. Washington, Tampa Bay, even Chicago and Detroit, are 4-7 or 5-6 teams who are playing well of late.
Green Bay 1-4, the Giants 2-4 and Atlanta 1-5 have been trending in the wrong direction.
In the AFC, I really like that 6-5 Pittsburgh team even without Le’Veon Bell, 6-5 Houston is surging behind J.J. Watt leading a great defense.
6-5 Indy is 4-0 when they start the 40 year old QB (Matt Hasselbeck) and the 5-6 Jets are somehow in the hunt - even Buffalo off a loss at Kansas City has a chance.
All of this points to a wild unpredictable December that begins Thursday night with the rematch of the Packers and Lions. Detroit has won three in a row and Green Bay has lost four of its last five.
