The Green Bay Packers signed DT Calvin Heurtelou, the team announced Monday. He will wear No. 72.
Heurtelou is a 6-foot-2, 305-pound first-year player out of the University of Miami. He originally signed with the Denver Broncos on May 6, 2016 as an undrafted free agent, but was released Aug. 29, 2016.
Heurtelou spent two seasons at Miami, playing in 26 games and starting 24 of them. He notched 52 tackles (22 solo), a half sack, four tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.
On Aug. 8, the Packers released DT Letroy Guion, who would have been suspended for the first four regular-season games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs and following an intoxicated driving arrest in June.
That left the Packers thin on the defensive line, especially with rookie Montravius Adams out indefinitely following foot surgery earlier in August.
