Larrivee discusses continual Packers struggles

Posted

At no time did seemingly anyone expect the Green Bay Packers to lose four games out of five this season (for the first time with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback since 2008). Especially losing to Detroit and Chicago at home.

Why has this stretch happened? Why have the Packers fallen so far, so quickly, after a 6-0 start?

620WTMJ Packers voice Wayne Larrivee relayed a story on Midday with Charlie Sykes which discusses a perspective revealed after their sole win in this struggling stretch - at Minnesota two Sundays ago.

"Somebody after the Minnesota game asked me, 'Have the Packers cured all their ills?' " said Larrivee.

"I said, 'No.' It didn't seem like it. The same maladies that have been plaguing this team...were there. The dropped passes, but they made a couple of plays. The defense played really well, but from an offensive standpoint, they continued to sputter. They had five field goals...you'd like at least three of those to end in touchdowns."

Then, after the Packers' 17-13 failure against Chicago on Thanksgiving night, Larrivee shows how Coach Mike McCarthy offered unusual public frankness in his criticism of the team.

"He said right away, 'I'm not happy with my football team.' That was the quote he said to Larry McCarren on our air. I thought that was fairly revealing."

Maybe even more revealing were Aaron Rodgers' words on Sunday.

"They're frustrated with the fact that apparently players can't get on the same page. Aaron Rodgers talked extensively about preparation...that's just countercultural to everything the Packers are about and have been about the last 10 years."
