The all-time leading receiver of the Green Bay Packers is now a nominee for the greatest individual honor in his sport.
Donald Driver (WR, 1999-2012) is among 108 players and coaches who have been named as modern-era nominees for the Pro Foootball Hall of Fame. This is his first year of eligibility.
Other former Packers nominated include:
- LeRoy Butler (S), 1990-2001
- Mike Holmgren (coach), 1992-98
- Jeff Saturday (C), 2012
- Sterling Sharpe (WR), 1988-94
Clay Matthews' dad, also a linebacker named Clay Matthews who played mainly for the Cleveland Browns, has been nominated.
This list of 108 players will be cut to 25 in November and further cut to 15 in January.
Jerry Kramer (G, 1958-68) has already been nominated as a finalist from the Senior Committee.
Kramer will join the 15 era modern-era finalists and two others from the senior and contributor categories to be voted upon by the Selection Committee on the day before Super Bowl LII.
Each must receive "yes" votes from at least 80 percent of the selection committee to make the Hall. The class - between four and eight members - will then be announced at the NFL Honors event that evening.
