The catcher and locker room co-leader of the Milwaukee Brewers has reportedly said he believes trading him to a contender is the best move for all involved.
Journal Sentinel beat writer and 620WTMJ "Brewers 360" contributor Tom Haudricourt reported Monday that Jonathan Lucroy says a trade would be the best potential move for both himself and his current team.
"I want to win and I don't see us winning in the foreseeable future. I want to go to a World Series. That's what all players want. Rebuilding is not a lot of fun for any veteran guy," he told Haudricourt.
The Brewers have gone with a major youth movement since before the 2015 trade deadline. They have dealt numerous veterans, from Carlos Gomez to Aramis Ramirez to Mike Fiers.
"We need to do a lot to get better," said the catcher.
"We have some holes to fill and some of them won't be filled for a few years. You've got to have firepower to be competitive. When you trade away veteran players, you don't have that firepower."
