Sad news announced Wednesday by Notre Dame Academy, legendary football coach John Nowak has passed away.
Nowak, who retired after the 2016 season, spent 31 years coaching high school football. 27 of those years were at Notre Dame.
In his time on the sidelines, Nowak compiled 225 wins, four trips to the state title game, and two State Championship victories.

While he was best known for his exploits with the football team, Nowak also coached track and field at Notre Dame and served as the school's physical education teacher.
