A surprise team is a champion in high school football in Wisconsin.

Neither Brookfield East, nor Monona Grove won their own division, but the two teams met in a barnburner at Camp Randall to decide who the best team in Division 2 is.

Brookfield East won a high-scoring, tense, 42-36 triumph to take the state title.

Twice, East took major leads, only to have Monona Grove produce a rally that was not enough.

Sam Santiago-Lloyd scored a record five touchdowns in the title game.
