Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun and second baseman Jonathan Villar will both begin their rehab stints with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers during Friday night's double header against the Kane County Cougars.
Both were scheduled to play Thursday, but the game was rained out. Villar was slated to bat lead off and play second, while Braun was batting third as the designated hitter. The six-time MLB All-Star has never participated in a minor league rehab and he's eager to see how healthy he feels in game action.
"Exploding off the calf is really the thing I'm least confident in right now," Braun said. He's been battling a calf injury since May. "I'm optimistic that it will respond well but until you get in a game setting, you never really know how it will feel."
Friday's double header starts with game one at 5:30 p.m. and game two 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. Each game will be seven innings.
