The woman who never stops giving is at it again. Oprah Winfrey is donating $100,000 to Milwaukee organizations as part of an overall $10 million donation to help underserved Americans across the country.

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation has committed the $10 million to help areas she considers "home cities," such as Chicago, Nashville, Milwaukee and Kosciusko, Miss.

Oprah's connection to Milwaukee comes from her childhood, when she lived here with her mother. Now, she is giving back to the city by providing mental health care and housing support.

SaintA provides telehealth mental health services to Milwaukee residents, particularly the African American community who has been hit the hardest by COVID-19. The organization will use the donation to help up to 150 students, adults and families who would not be able to access health care on their own with by providing telehealth devices and internet access for a year.

The Nia Imani Family, Inc. provides housing for young, pregnant or first-time mothers, many who are recovering from homelessness, violence and traumatic life experiences.
