Oshkosh sex offender sentenced 10 years for child pornography distribution

OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — An Oshkosh sex offender registrant was sentenced to 10 years in prison for distribution of child pornography.

Between March and May of 2022, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office and the Milwaukee Office of the FBI investigated the receipt and distribution of child pornography through BitTorrent, a file-sharing network.

The investigation lead to the arrest of Matheau P. Martinez, age 38, of Oshkosh. He was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison by Senior District Judge William C. Griesbach.

At the time of his arrest, Martinex was a registrant with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program.

Following his release, Martinez will spend the remainder of his life on supervised release and will continue to be required to register as a sexual offender.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
