Investigators haven't determined exact cause

The Zippin Pippin Roller Coaster at Bay Beach Amusement Park will only operate one train this season after a malfunction on the ride last June.

Bay Beach Amusement Park will celebrate its 125th season when it opens on May 6, 2017. The Green Bay Parks Department has been busy preparing rides and special events, focusing on park safety, according to the Mayor's Office.

In a release Tuesday, the Mayor's Office said this in regards to the Zippin Pippin:

To date, the experts investigating the incident last June involving the ride have been unable to pinpoint the exact cause of the malfunction. The City will continue to operate only a single train until the City is satisfied that there is no potential for reoccurrence. The City’s first and foremost concern is always the safety of Bay Beach park visitors.

City officials said park visitors can be sure they are prioritizing safety, but will still have an enjoyable experience on the Zippin Pippin this summer.
