Black Lives United and YWCA are hosting their six-part series "Stand Against Racism."
The presentation discussed Ta-Nehisi Coates' best seller, "Between the World and Me." Mohammed Bey, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at NWTC also spoke at the event.
Bey shared his story of triumph over racism, going from a life of crime and homeless to his current position at the university.
For YWCA CEO Kay Baranczyk, shattering racist stereotypes is a key part of the YWCA is all about.
She says, "One of the missions of the YWCA is eliminating racism and we truly believe that begins with awareness, it begins with having a safe place where people can have conversations."
The next event of the campaign is scheduled for April 26. For more information, visit their website.
