17 years after his death, a World War II veteran who spent time as a prisoner of war was finally buried with military honors Friday in Michigan.
Roger Anderson served in WWII and was captured in the Battle of the Bulge.
He passed away in 2000.
His family said a misunderstanding during his funeral service caused him to be buried without military honors.
His daughter, Mary Croft, said through the help of Congressman Mike Gallagher's office, she was able to finally get her father the proper honor he earned.
"My dad and others like him, they fought for our country and were heroes, and the guys in the military now are heroes and deserve our love and respect," said Croft.
Croft said her nephew, who is currently in the military, came back to be a part of his grandfather's color guard.
She said it was an emotional day for the whole family.
