A 20-year-old charged with driving drunk and causing a crash in Suamico that killed her friend has reached a plea deal.

Savannah Dumas pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and operating while intoxicated causing injury Tuesday in Brown County court.

Dumas admitted to drinking vodka before the crash that killed 21-year-old Megan Frehse in April, according to court documents.

The victim's boyfriend and Dumas's friend, Nicholas Zillges, was also in court for the hearing on Tuesday with an emotional request for the judge.

"I just ask that the court has mercy because this isn't helping anyone," said Zillges. "I love you Savannah and we're all behind you."

Dumas will be sentenced in February and could face up to 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
