On Tuesday shortly before 4 p.m., Manitowoc Police Officers and members of the Manitowoc Fire Department were sent to a report of a multi-vehicle crash with multiple injured pedestrians in the 2300 block of Western Avenue.
The crash occurred outside the main entrance to Holy Family Memorial Hospital.
The driver, a 71-year-old Manitowoc man, had lost control of his vehicle, backed into another vehicle, and struck a 97–year-old Valders woman, a 64-year-old St. Nazianz woman and an 82-year-old Manitowoc man. The driver then tried to pull forward, lost control of the vehicle, striking another vehicle in the employee parking lot to the North of Meadow Lane.
The 97-year-old Valders woman suffered serious injuries and her medical status is unknown at this time. The 64-year-old St. Nazianz woman and the 82-year-old Manitowoc man were treated for minor injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with reconstruction of the crash.
