The Winnebago County Sherriff’s Office posted a picture on their Facebook page Tuesday, recognizing one of their citizens for quick action after seeing a car crash.

Here’s the post:

On the early morning hours of February 1st, 2016, Town of Algoma citizen Mark Clements was driving with his four year old son on Omro Road in the Township of Algoma. Mark was a witness to a two vehicle crash at the intersection with Emmers Lane. Mark saw the severity of the crash, parked to protect the scene and went to render aid. Mark used his previous firefighter and emergency medical training skills to realize the female could have injuries which would require spinal immobilization. In light dress clothes, Mark identified himself, entered the backseat of the female's heavily damaged car and used his hands to hold C-Spine immobilization. Mark continued traction until the Algoma first responders/firefighters had the scene protected enough to allow medical personnel to apply a rigid collar so Mark could be safely relieved. We would like to thank Mark for his service to a fellow citizen!
