The federal tax deadline is April 18th this year, so you’ve got three extra days to get your paperwork in. So procrastinators and non-procrastinators alike: If you’re looking for a way to simplify this process, there are apps that can help you file your taxes quicker and also take a few headaches out of it.
 
AT&T’s Jason Strong joined us on “Wisconsin Tonight” to give us the rundown on some of these apps.
 
IRS2Go:
 
IRS2Go allows you to interact with the IRS via your mobile phone.
This app gives you access to daily tax tips — in plain English — and information on the newest tax legislation as it’s released.
You can also securely check the status of your refund or request a copy of your tax return and/or account transcript. IRS2Go is available free for both iPhone and Android devices.
 
TurboTax App Video: 
 
The new TurboTax mobile app makes it as easy as possible to file taxes in any tax situation.
Snap a photo of your W-2, answer simple questions about your life, and e-file from your mobile device or computer.
Seamlessly switch between your phone, tablet and computer. TurboTax asks you simple questions and double-checks as you go.
 
ItsDeductible:
 
You’ve donated a few items here and there throughout the year, but you just can’t remember what they were and what they were worth. ItsDeductible is an easy to use app to keep track of all your non-cash charitable contributions. This app tracks a theater of donation, the items donated, the charity you donated to, and the fair market values of your contributions

The best way to take the sting out of tax time is to make a plan and stick to it year-round. Online budgeting programs like Mint can continuously monitor your spending to keep you on the straight and narrow, while making it easier to pull out certain details once tax season comes around.
