Tech Talk: Labor Day Technology

Posted
Labor Day is that moment we all realize summer is fading. With just a few more weeks (yes we said weeks) of warm weather ahead, AT&T’s Jason Strong joined us on Wisconsin Tonight with a few suggestions for music speakers and apps to jam to while we BBQ and soak in the last of those rays.

-Jawbone Mini Jambox

Beats Pill:

-Pair and play with your Bluetooth® device with 30 foot range
-Built-in speakerphone
-7 hour rechargeable battery

Pandora:

Pandora allows you to create your own radio stations, based on the artists you like and then they choose other artists in that same genre.
You can also choose whether you like certain songs or hate them… by giving the song a thumbs up or a thumbs down. If you give a song a thumbs down, you’ll never hear it again.
You can create as many radio stations as you like.
You will hear a few ads on Pandora but if you can stand it, the app is free. You can buy a Pandora subscription, most of Pandora’s users use the app for free.

Spotify:

Spotify provided access to approximately 20 million songs.
Users could search for artists, albums, titles, labels and genres, and access tracks from many major and independent labels.
Users can create and share playlists, or edit them together with other users.

iHeartRadio:

iHeartRadio functions both as a music recommender system and as a radio network that aggregates audio content from over 800 local iHeartMedia radio stations across the United States, as well as from hundreds of other stations and from various other media.
On customized stations, songs are chosen at random based on a song or artist a user chooses. Users also have the option to listen to iHeartRadio's original stations that work exactly like customized ones. Once a station is created, users can set the discovery tuner to Familiar, Less Familiar, or Mixed. Listeners can also hear live radio stations.
