Tech Talk: Cell Phone Etiquette

Posted
and last updated
Most of us are attached to our cell phone and with that, come some really bad habits that cannot only be unsafe -- but rude! AT&T’s Jason Strong joined us on Wisconsin Tonight, offering some advice on how you can be more courteous when using your mobile device:

*Discreet notifications – Several smartwatches and the Rebecca Minkoff Notification Bracelet allow you to be notified of messages without constant looking at your phone, especially during business meetings

*At the movies – Turn down the brightness on your phone

*DriveMode app – Disable text while behind the wheel. Don’t be that driver who is texting on the road, endangering your life and those of others

* DO NOT talk in public with the speaker on
* DO NOT talk on your phone in public bathroom stalls
* DO NOT take pictures of your friends and tag them on social media without asking them first
* DO use a hands-free headset while driving

*Schedule your text messages –Rather than responding at 1:30 a.m., set that response for a more appropriate time

*Be kind to your partner – using electronics in bed can be a turn-off and a hinderance to intimacy
