The World’s Tallest Grandfather Clock will be dedicated in downtown Kewaunee on Sunday, July 3.
The Colonial-style redwood grandfather clock stands nearly 36 feet tall, has three faces -- morning, noon, and night -- and has real clockwork, motor, mechanisms, and chimes.
According to organizers, this is a celebration to give thanks to all the people that helped restore this clock to the downtown of Kewaunee. Kewaunee disassembled the clock in July 2013 and set it up in a more visible spot downtown on August 27, 2014. Nearly a year was spent cleaning its delicate mechanisms before the clock resumed its timekeeping duties on July 30, 2015.
There will be food, a ribbon cutting, music and more. The Kewaunee Fire Dept. will serve brats, burgers, nachos, beer soda, and water.
This will take place from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. At 4:00 p.m., there will be a short speech to thank everyone involved and to cut a ribbon. At 5:30 p.m. the band Bazooka Joe will play. There will be a bouncy house and face painting for the kids and a 50/50 raffle for your chance to win some cash.
