Jarrid Rynish, an 18 year-old senior at Seymour High School was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016.
Now, the community is supporting this young man with a big heart, as he’s in search of a liver donation.
His family said the cancer in Jarrid’s liver is not operable and will require a transplant. A procedure meant to be a “bridge to transplant” was not successful in treating the largest tumor. Jarrid is on the waiting list for a liver transplant, and they are very hopeful. If the cancer spreads outside of his liver before a donor is found, Jarrid will no longer be a candidate for a transplant.
With Jarrid’s age, he is considered a pediatric cancer patient. All of his treatments and appointments are done at American Family Children’s Hospital UW-Health in Madison. Jarrid has maintained his positive and friendly attitude through each procedure he has endured as well as the hospital stays and two-hour road trips to Madison.
Friends and family say he has the biggest heart and makes friends wherever he goes. His smile is unforgettable.
The family is putting together a benefit to raise funds to help with covering the costs associated with his fight against liver cancer and the transplant. All proceeds will be used towards expenses related to his treatment and recovery.
The event will be held for Jarrid on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Doxbee’s in Seymour from 4-9 p.m. There will be a DJ, food, raffle baskets and games.
