No Child Wet Behind Preview

Posted
Green Bay Doulas will be hosting their first No Child Wet Behind Diaper Drive & 5K Run.  This is taking place on Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at Joannes Park in Green Bay, from 8:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. The goal of the event is to support the numerous area pantries and organizations within Brown County who need diapers.

This is a family friendly event with a 5K run/walk, family fun walk, face painting, balloon animals and various vendors.

Green Bay Doulas has partnered with the United Way of Brown County to inform the community that diaper need is real in the United States. Their goal is to educate, raise awareness and get diapers donated for needy families.

This event had been so successful with Northeast Doulas out of New York, they wanted to take it to the national level.

One in three households with diaper aged children is experiencing diaper need. Food stamps cannot be used to purchase diapers. When a family struggles to, or is not able to provide diapers for their baby, the family is affected both physically and emotionally.

Programs do exist to assist families with basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing but surprisingly, diaper need is not supported by any government program.
