Dr. Amy James, Bellin Health palliative care specialist; and Dr. Patricia Neuman, Unity Hospice Medical Director joined us on “Wisconsin Tonight” to talk about National Healthcare Decisions Day.
National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) is an annual observance that exists to educate the public and healthcare providers about the importance of advance care planning. It encourages people to both discuss their wishes regarding medical care with their family members, and to fill out an advance directive to formalize those wishes and state them legally.
Bellin Health has teamed with Unity Hospice to present free community events around National Healthcare Decisions Day, observed this year on April 16. On Thursday, April 7, members of the public are invited for a film screening and panel discussion at Lambeau Field that includes featured speaker and Green Bay Packers great Ahman Green. On Tuesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 14, advance care planning facilitators will be at several locations throughout the community to answer questions and provide resources and assistance in completing an advance care plan.
