Miles 4 Madyson

Miles 4 Madyson Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to childhood cancer prevention and treatment, will host its inaugural Miles 4 Madyson 5K & 10K Walk/Run, at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, May 14, at LeTourneau Plastics Inc. (Plant 2), in Oconto, Wis.

Paul and Betsy LeTourneau created the walk/run event after their youngest daughter, Madyson, was diagnosed and treated for a rare form of tissue cancer. Her battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma began when she was 17 months old and lasted 43 weeks. During this time, her family leaned heavily on Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Ronald McDonald House and the MACC Fund Center.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Ronald McDonald House-Eastern Charities, an organization focused on keeping families together while their children receive medical treatment, and Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Inc. (MACC Fund), which is dedicated to funding childhood cancer and related blood disorder research.
The chip-timed walk/run will distribute awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers, male and female, in seven separate age groups. Registration is $25 for adults, $15 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.

Participants are invited to pre-register by completing a registration form, available online at www.miles4madyson.com, or at the on-site registration, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Friday, May 13, at LeTourneau Plastics Inc. (Plant 1), in Oconto.

The registration fee includes a swag bag, tech t-shirt and post-race music and refreshments. Tax-deductible donations are also being accepted. More details are available at www.miles4madyson.com, a website with detailed information about the event.
