A group of students who participated in Evergreen Theatre's summer theatre program are putting on a performance of Golly Gee Whiz. Twenty-three students took part in this three week program taught them acting, developing a character, designing set pieces and costumes, stage movement, singing and dance. Many were then able to audition for the musical and put what they learned in action on stage.
Golly Gee Whiz is a loving tribute to the terrific Hollywood film musicals of the 1930's and 40's that starred Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. The show takes place during the Great Depression, but that doesn't stop the local young people from trying to make their world a better place and save their town, Happyville. They all get together and decide to put on a show.
Golly Gee Whiz runs August 4 and 5 at 7:00 p.m. August 6 at 2:00 p.m.
