Guitars for Vets (G4V) was founded in 2007 by a guitar instructor and his student. The goal is to help veterans who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Many are finding hope in an unlikely place: behind the wood and strings of an acoustic guitar. The healing power of music helps soldiers cope.
Guitars and lessons are provided at no cost to US Military Veterans who are referred by their health-care provider at The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.
Ten private lessons are shared on practice guitars donated by the local community.
When that is finished, the Veteran/student is awarded a brand new acoustic guitar and accessories.
G4V has more than 60 Chapters and 30 states.
Over 2,000 guitars and 20,000 lessons have been given to service men and women who suffer from trauma related to their military experience.
It costs only $200.00 to enroll a Veteran in the G4V program.
The Green Bay chapter is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, April 2. This will take place at Brickhouse in De Pere at 5:00 p.m.
There will be music, raffle and an auction.
Tickets must be purchased through Brown Bag ticketing site.
