The Door County Humane Society is taking part in the national Saving Pets Challenge. This challenge consists of hundreds of animal welfare organizations all competing to see who can raise the most money for their cause in 30 days.
During each week of the Saving Pets Challenge there are mini-challenges acting as fun incentives for individuals to donate to their preferred animal welfare group.
The first week’s mini-challenge took place July 5th - July 12th, and the group that raised the most money during the week won a $10,000 bonus prize. The results from the first mini-challenge were bittersweet for DCHS. During most of the day on Tuesday DCHS remained in first place, but at the last minute a big, Houston-based organization swept in to win the bonus money.
The Saving Pets Challenge is not over, though. DCHS will continue to compete from now until August 4th to raise even more. Their original goal was $50,000, but now they have surpassed that amount, their new goal is to raise $100,000 and place in the top five.
Currently DCHS is in second place. If they can maintain that spot through continued financial support and stay in the top five till the end of the challenge on August 4th, they will have the opportunity to receive a portion of the remaining $150,000 in bonus money.
