Megan Pfarr, Bridge to Wellness Program Coordinator at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital Regional Cancer Center, joined us on Wisconsin Tonight to talk about their Bridge to Wellness program.
Bridge to Wellness, is an exercise and nutrition series for cancer survivors. For 10 weeks, participants learn about exercise, nutrition and making healthy choices as a cancer survivor.
Participants will also have full use of Western Racquet and Fitness Club facilities throughout the 10 weeks.
According to Pfarr, Bridge to Wellness dietitians and personal trainers are specially-trained to help people who have had cancer. Some exercises that are safe for a normal person may not be safe for a cancer survivor, due to certain medications or treatments they’ve been through.
Fitness and nutrition classes are just one way that you’re helping cancer survivors overcome their disease. Explain what other programs you have in place to help local cancer patients.
The Anew Cancer Survivorship program at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital Regional Cancer Center helps cancer patients with everything they need *outside* of their doctor appointments. From diagnosis to recovery, Anew can help cancer patients with things like, counseling, financial assistance. They even offer art therapy for patients.
And this program is for any cancer survivor in our area – not just their patients.
