Alzheimer's Association's "The Longest Day" Preview

On Monday, June 20, 2016, residents across the nation will participate in The Longest Day, a team event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease. 
 
This is held every year on summer solstice, the duration of this sunrise-to-sunset event symbolizes the challenging journey of those living with the disease and their caregivers.
 
Participants raise funds and awareness to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
 
Teams are encouraged to create their own experience as they fundraise and participate in an activity they love to honor someone facing the disease. 
 
Bellevue Assisted Living will be hosting their own event. 
 
Here are those details: 
 
AGENDA FOR MONDAY JUNE 20TH 2016
 
5:07AM- 7AM : Sunrise Seekers Coffee & Cocoa – Meet me out on the porch, watch the sunrise and sip on some hot coffee and hot cocoa and enjoy a sweet roll or two.
 
7AM- 9AM : Bake Sale & Breakfast- Do you get a sweet tooth from time to time come and select an item from our bake sale all proceed will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
 
9AM- 2PM: Transport: Runs every Monday from 9a-2p by appointment only please sign up at the concierge desk the Friday prior to your appointment.
 
9:15AM: Exercise- This is a good source of physical, stretching, balancing, and breathing:

10:30AM : Rosary- (in the Roman Catholic Church) a form of devotion in which five (or fifteen) decades of Hail Mary’s
 
11AM- 2PM: Brat Fry- fixings ketchup, mustard, pickled relish, & onions.
 
11AM- 2PM: Lemonade Stand- (Iris B. + one more person) Serving Lemonade, $2 Root Beer, and $2.50 Root Beer Float.
 
50/50 Raffle $20 – arm length of tickets

Water balloon game $1 to enter winning team will pick out a prize
 
12PM-1PM: Aiming to Eliminate ALZ Archery Addition- With this event you will find 6 archers competing for the win the goal is to have the most points in the completion of the 1st round and 2nd round add them up for your totaling points.
 
2:30PM: Michigan Rummy- Two to nine players may play "Michigan Rummy". EQUIPMENT: Michigan Rummy three-dimensional revolving playing board, a regular deck of cards, and chips or counters. The Michigan Rummy board consists of nine sections. WINNING PAY CARDS are indicated next to each section on the board.
 
3PM- 4PM: Brain Health Smoothies, coffee, and dessert- During this event we will be serving up something sweet for you Prior to showing and educational piece on Effective Communication Strategies, through this event you will learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help connect and communicate with your loved ones at each stage of the diagnosis..
 
4PM- 5PM: Effective Communication Strategies- Through this event, participants will learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help connect and communicate with their loved ones at each stage of the disease.
 
6PM: Blue Tides light water aerobics 
 
6PM-8:40PM : Sunset Seekers Moon Roast Stories and Smore’s- To end the night let’s celebrate working towards a cure for ALZ; while enjoying a small camp fire we will enjoy watching the sunset for the night while enjoying a smore or two and sharing stories.
