Wisconsin Republicans Hold Annual Convention

The room  filled with a loud sound of applause as Speaker of the House Paul Ryan praised Wisconsin voters who took part in the 2016 state and presidential elections.

"Wisconsin was thinking, gosh, we haven't gone red since 1984. Most people wrote us off, most people didn't think our electoral votes could ever go for a republican. We proved them wrong in 2016, didn't we," said Ryan.

The votes resulted in re-electing senator Ron Johnson.

"God bless your efforts, God bless Wisconsin, and America, thank you," said Johnson.

Ryan also praised voters for helping elect new republican congressman Mike Gallagher.

"I'm honored to be the newest member of this team, and I wouldn't have this opportunity if it wasn't for all of your hard work," said Gallagher

People in attendance and party leaders voiced their support for president Donald Trump and are ready to move forward with one of the President's key promises: to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

"We passed it out of the house, and now that bill is going on over to the senate," said Ryan

While the Wisconsin Republican Party is happy with last year's election results, leaders say there's still work to do.

"We need to turn Wisconsin red in 2018 and beyond," said Johnson.
