The Wisconsin Democratic Convention starts Friday with a Democratic Unity Fair.

Labor and civil rights leader Tom Perez will be the special keynote speaker at the Convention. Over a thousand Democrats from all over the state will gather in Green Bay to kick off 2016 election efforts and hear the U.S. Labor Secretary speak about the importance of coming together to elect Democrats on the ballot in November.

"Tom Perez has spent his career leading the fight for equality and civil rights, supporting workers, and creating opportunities for every American," said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Martha Laning. "He is one of our country's strongest progressive voices, and we're thrilled to have him joining us."

Candidates and some elected Democrats will give speeches Friday evening, including congressional candidate Tom Nelson, senate candidate Russ Feingold and Sen. Tammy Baldwin.

The 2016 Democratic Party of Wisconsin Convention will take place from June 3-4th at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Green Bay.
