Wisconsin couple remembers Las Vegas shooting

It’s been one month since the deadly shooting in Las Vegas, and one couple from Wisconsin remembers the night vividly.

"I think it puts things in perspective, I think you value things a little bit more and you get back and see your kids, you see your family, your friends, I think all of those things maybe mean a little more to you,” said Eric Gottlieb of White Fish Bay.

Gottlieb and his wife ran from gunshots during a Jason Aldean concert in October. It started as a trip to celebrate a friend’s birthday, but ended in what felt like a living nightmare.

"There was one guy that came up that we were consoling, he was shot in the abdomen, shot in the arm. And he was trying to leave, he wanted to get away,” Gottlieb said.

Gottlieb and his wife weren’t hurt and able to make their way to safety. They were separated from their friends, who also made it out okay, but the question of ‘what if’ still sits in their minds. What if they hadn't gotten away?

"The first couple of nights, I'd say, you wake up and think about it or if I woke up, it was hard to go back to sleep, thinking about that, but I think that's gotten better and better,” Gottlieb said.

There's still a long way to go. The couple was re-connected with their friends from Las Vegas a few weeks ago at a Badger game; it was a celebration, but also a painful reminder.

"They do kind of an evacuation plan and route at the beginning of the game, I paid close attention to it,” Gottlieb said.

He said the experience in Las Vegas isn't going to stop them from living and getting back to life as usual.

"We just got tickets to the Kenny Chesney concert at Miller Park, so I think we're going to have to find a way to get over it,” Gottlieb said.
