Firefighters in Howard say strong winds pushed an attached garage fire into a home.
Howard Fire responded to the incident around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Everyone in the home had escaped, but there may have been a cat still inside.
Howard Fire said wind conditions combined with the type of construction of the building made this a difficult fire to put out. The fire moved so quickly that crews had to pull back for safety reasons.
Crews spent several hours on the scene putting out hot spots in hidden spaces. The garage and the home have been determined to be a total loss. No one was hurt. The cause is under investigation. There's no estimate on the dollar amount of damage.
